Stress Reduction, Flexibility and Relaxation through Yoga

Copyright, Neva J Howell

OK, I confess to being one of those people who just doesn’t “get” yoga. I’ve never enjoyed it even though I know it has many health benefits. And yeah, I do know what that may be saying about me….rigidity, impatience, etc. However, it’s a little more than that. It has to do with the gridline of the practice….something rigid about the thoughtforms …. that’s another post for another day.

Anyway, this is for all of you who might want to try yoga or wonder if a regular yoga practice might be for you.

It’s not a complete list of the benefits but just some of the more common health benefits associated with a regular yoga practice.

  • Stress reduction
  • Increased body/mind connection
  • Relaxing and meditative for most (not me)
  • Increased Flexibility

  • Better joint, tendon and ligament lubrication
  • Muscle toning
  • Increased or better natural detoxification of the body
  • Yoga can be thought of as a sort of internal massage that affects all important organs and systems, as well as the entire connective tissue system of the body.

Breath is a major component in most yoga teachings. Learning to support the body in relaxing, stretching and releasing tension is important. If you struggle with this aspect of meditation or yoga, or just want to learn how breath can enhance your yoga experience, you might enjoy this hypnosis program: Yoga Breathing for Improved Performance
