a Spiritual Bonding with Tuna and Beer

Food Diversion from Omega Fare
I ventured out beyond the sweet energy of Omega Institute today, for the first time since arriving here to work as seasonal staff on April 6. Could it be less than a month that I’ve been here?
Hard to believe.
I went into upper Red Hook, which is about 14 miles away, and had tons of fun at two rummage sales that local churches were having. Both were having $5 bag day though the first one was restricted to women’s stuff and the second was for the entire store. I got some TERRIFIC bargains.
Then, I went into Rhinebeck and had two things I haven’t had in 3 weeks…..meat and alcohol.
I went to the Tarapin Bistro and had a marvelous tuna salad sandwich with an equally marvelous draft beer called Hop Sum. Yum, yum, yum. I brought back half the sandwich and part of my fries and am munching on them as I write this.
I thought, as I was out and about, oh, I’m missing Omega lunch. Then, I asked someone where you could get healthy food and she said just about anywhere. I realized, once again, I’m not in Kansas anymore, Toto.
I can actually see the grains in this multi-grain bread and, instead of the tasteless and nutritionless iceberg lettuce I’d get on sandwiches at home, this sandwich has dark, leafy greens.
The fries….well, they are fried. Yum. Good, if not the most healthy option.
It’s been a really fun day for me and it’s only 2:00 pm. I have to look at the staff bulletin board and see what classes are available today.
I know there is Kirtan (a form of meditational chanting) at 7:30 but there might be something before that.
If not, there’s always laundry at end of week.
And I can sort through all my rummage sale goodies.
