The Speed of Is and Can Be:

A while back I met a Peace Pilgrim. His name is Scaughdt. He’s a delight and a Light. I got this email from him this morning and thought you might enjoy it.

For me, this topic of isness and becoming was very appropriate because I spent the past two days NOT pausing and going at breakneck speed at something I possibly should have given up on after an hour.

It’s good to pause and get back more fully into now, as often as I can these days so thanks, Scaughdt, for the reminder. Here’s what Scaughdt shared with me and others on his mailing list today. If you like his gentle wisdom, visit his website and ask to be connected.

From Scaughdt:

While going through some older files today, I found these notes on tempo — namely, the speed we choose to live our lives.

Many of us seem to spend lots of energy contemplating the nature of our “Life Mission”, and yet maybe we each need to ponder not so much what we should be doing, but rather how “quickly” or “slowly” (i.e. how inattentively or attentively) we are doing what we’ve already chosen to do.

Maybe it’s time to simply pause (right now!) — to gratefully BE (right now!) — to truly attend to whatever it is is we are already doing (right now!) — to send some kind thoughts (right now!) to the one person who needs our kindness the most (i.e. the person we least want to send those thoughts) …

Consider …

Until then, Be Now!

The speed of IS:

The speed of a nerve impulse is 136 meters per second …

The speed of sound is 340.29 meters per second …

The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second…

The speed of CAN BE:

The speed of thought can be either as slow as unconscious droning or as fast as a conscious pause …

The speed of intention can be either as slow as a habit or as fast as a selfless choice …

The speed of acceptance can be either as slow as frustration/criticism or as fast as forgiveness …

The speed of Beauty can be either as slow as the “familiar” or as fast as choosing to see the “normal” as amazing.

The speed of Gratitude can be either as slow as envy or as fast as choosing to be thankful for Here.

The speed of Love can be either as slow as indifference or as fast as choosing to be kind Now.

Unlike matters of “scientific fact”, the speed of every one of your actions is completely under your control …

Take some time (literally!) to enJOY this power — right now!

Live compassion…
Inspire generosity…
Value service…
Empower peace…
