Update, 2018: As far as I can tell the Mix 1 shakes are no longer available. Since then, I’ve spent a LOT of time looking for a suitable replacement. I finally found one that is not only suitable but superior. Mt. Capra Goat Whey.

I’ve long been searching for an energy drink that was high in protein, something I could drink in the morning to start the day with good nutrition and high protein. Whey and I have not agreed. I have probably tried at least a half-dozen whey protein drinks over the years and, until now, did not find a single one that agreed with me.

I am enjoying the Mix 1 brand of whey protein drinks, and particularly like the Mix Berry flavor. The Mango is good too.

Maybe my body can tolerate Mix 1 because it does not contain lactose or casein. I’ve read the casein in whey protein drinks can cause problems. All I know is that the gastrointestinal distress I normally have when I drink whey-containing shakes doesn’t happen when I drink Mix 1 enhanced protein shakes.

I also like that Mix 1 shakes contain organic ingredients. I’m big on organic foods and foods and supplements prepared for optimal nutrition.

I like that Mix 1 shakes do not contain soy, which disagrees with my system even more than whey. I like that the formulas provide sustained energy, 15g of portein and lots of vitamins and minerals. It’s good that they can replace several servings of fruits and veggies in one serving too, particularly for those who don’t tend to get their recommended 5 servings a day of fruit and veggies.
