Looking at Alternative Currency and Barter

Money Matters and the Exploration of Alternatives

A few months back, I started exploring the idea of barter as a way of getting what I needed and also began to explore this idea of alternative currency that has been around for a while now. I was dismayed to find our government stopping some cities from producing their own currency and wondered if there was a way to explore new ideas around money and the exchange of energy it represents that was being successfully developed.

I signed up for a barter newsletter and just got their latest email. I wanted to post it here in case anyone else is considering barter or alternative currency.

My interest in this blossomed more when I realized I would be selling my current home, the home I had just purchased a year ago for the purpose of creating a healing center, due to the discovery that three chicken houses were being built less than a half mile from me.

Previous posts on the subject:
My journey with this radical change and
lessons about the spiritual synchronicity of radical change

With regard to that last post, one result was that I’ve stopped eating chicken altogether. I’m not sure that’s a permanent life change but it’s been almost a month and the only chicken I’ve had is a little organic, free range chicken broth. I haven’t missed it and I know I’m making a difference. For every person who refuses to support the mistreatment of animals for human gain, the world shifts a little.

To be clear, I’m not saying it’s wrong to eat meat. I still eat meat and, if I knew of a company that treated their chickens humanely through their entire life and then carried a Spirit of respect and thanksgiving, taking care and using kindness when it came time to sacrifice the chickens for the nutrition of a human being, I’d still eat chicken.

Anyway, I digress……Here’s the info on barter and a link to the barter club at the bottom in case anyone wants to read more about it.

Are you stressing over GAS prices?

copyright, Debbie DeSousa, all rights reserved

Yes, we’re all stressing about the prices of gas. As gas prices continue to climb we’re all looking for ways to save our cash flow. Each time we have to spend any cash we cringe. So I have a question for you. If you need to buy something would you rather take the money out of your B of A bank account or would you like to spend trade credits from your barter account? This is a no brainer for me because I’ve been using trade credits for 10 years to improve my bottom line. I understand that trade credits are money and I like money. I like any money that I can spend. My first year as a trade member I took in $8,000. Now that’s not a lot of money but it came in handy when I needed dental work, eye glasses and a new roof on my house. Trade credits spend just like cash.
With consumer prices rising and our economy slowing trade becomes even more valuable to all business owners. We need to buy stuff but have less cash to work with. We all have something we can trade. Look around what do you have that is collecting dust? Are you paying for storage spaces. If you’re a service business do you have time that is not being used by cash customers? It’s 10 times easier to make a trade sale then a cash sale.
If you want to save your cash and buy with trade credits instead you will need to sell/trade something first. That means you must first get over the idea that only USA dollars are of benefit to you. You will need to look at the big picture. Look past your first reaction. You can avoid all risk by locating what you want to buy with trade credits first. Then trade to raise the credits you need. I call this trading in reverse. There is no risk because you already know what you want to buy and know how much money trading will save you. There is no cash cost to you unless you receive business from Barter Bucks. Barter Bucks only gets paid when you make money.

To learn more about how you can grow your business using trade call Barter Bucks for a no obligation consultation. We will help you find things you’re already buying with cash that you can start buying with trade credits. Improving your cash flow will help you cut down on your stress related to money.

The Bell Curve - One Woman’s Journey - Guest Article on the path of awakening

Bentov and the Bell Curve
Bentov and the Bell Curve

This article is the copywritten material of ~ Jeni Humming, Copyright, April 2007, all rights reserved

Czech born scientist, mystic, author and inventor Itzhak Bentov drew a bell curve to illustrate the evolution of human consciousness. On the left side of the curve is the “throwbacks” from where the human animal evolved — the more primitive of our species, but still alive today in diminishing numbers. In the middle of the curve, of course, is the the majority of our planet’s inhabitants who possess an average level of consciousness, setting the standard for what is considered to be “normal”. To the far right of the curve are the few and the rare humans present on the earth at this time who have evolved to a level of consciousness that is beyond the understanding and systems of measurement that exist today. This is where all humanity is headed and it is only a matter of time before the median will reach this point and the evolved humans on the far right of the new curve will be in a form and at a level we cannot even fathom now.

He asked the question: “Where can we find these evolved humans in our world today?” The interviewer ventured that they could be found at Universities and other places where one might expect to find the intellectual elite. Bentov said no. “In mental institutions,” he said. Society today does not know what to do with people who exist simultaneously in unfamiliar realms, which consist of anything the average human cannot see or hear or understand. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Our senses limit us being able to perceive only a fraction of what science has already proved is there. And yet, when someone can perceive these things without a conventional frame-of-reference to interpret the experience, it is bewildering for them, and socially unacceptable in general.

When all of your life, your paradigm has always been radically separate from what we observe as normal, there is often a desperation to be normal and fit in and muffle the gifts of this higher consciousness. This can create a form of suffering that in most cases will result in a way to deal with the world that will be judged as bad and wrong. It is the rare and courageous thing to be in this position and battle your way to a place of self-referral where you know what is normal for you is not normal for anyone else. And then it is ever rarer to have the audacity and naivete to blatantly explore what it means to be the creature that you are without the understanding, approval or support of others.

The conventional psychological community attempts to quantify and standardize lifetimes of bewildering isolation and disenfranchisement with a plethora of diagnosable personality disorders. Are they real, or just insurance codes to justify medicating brilliance? Who’s to say, but best not to judge. Better to try to understand. Author and Teacher Carolyn Myss states that each soul must have an incarnation when “the tribe” fails them, releasing them to be on a solitary journey in that life to be free to evolve at their own rate.

While I don’t consider myself to be at the extreme right of the bell curve, this solitary journey has been my experience. Am I diagnosable? Am I committable? I guess it depends on your paradigm and your agenda and your position of power over my life as to whether I get to stay free. So far I have escaped awarding anyone with that kind of power over me.

It never occurred to me not to be free. And and somehow I have managed, perhaps because I didn’t know any better, to create a life full of miracles and magic seemingly out of thin air without ever hurting anyone.

Do I suffer more than most? Yes, absolutely I do. I go through life with the feeling of someone visiting a nursing home where all of the residents are in a state of blissful dementia. They are all just as happy as can be and don’t know they are oblivious to reality. If I were presented with the option to become like them … one of them … to be happy and free of the constant discomfort of this awareness, I would not choose it. I couldn’t. So not only am I choosing to be as I am, I am embracing it, and I am going to push my limits as far as I can before I get caught!

What is a Detox Diet? Weight Loss and Cleansing Information

Is there such a thing as a detox diet?

Are you considering detoxing but are confused by all the ads for detox diets and cleanse programs? This article addresses some important detoxification information that may be useful.

There are definitely foods which are cleansing and detoxing in nature. Raw fruits and veggies are naturally cleansing and detoxing, as well as supportive to the entire digestive and eliminatory system. In fact, raw foodism is a practice of eating all or almost all your foods in a raw state and I believe it’s one of the healthiest ways to live. If there were to be an eating regimen that I’d consider a detox diet, raw foodism would probably come closest to fitting that bill.

There are also foods that lend themselves to clogging up the system with waste and/or toxins. Foods made with refined sugar or white flour are unhealthy for the digestive and eliminatory system.

Even though there are foods that fall into both the cleansing and the clogging categories, there is no single detox diet. Rather, there are many detox programs, some of which are called a detox diet, but most of which focus on a one to three-week cleanse regimen designed to remove toxins, chemicals, heavy metals and old waste from the body.

Most who advocate cleansing see it as more of a lifestyle choic that is about health and not weight loss. The term detox diet kind of ties into the weight loss movement and even though cleansing can definitely take off pounds, especially in the abdominal area, it is not considered a weight loss program in and of itself. Other healthy lifestyle choices must always accompany detoxification regimens for the to make a lasting effect in a person’s life.

Factors in undergoing a detox diet:
Calorie restriction is considered beneficial during a detox. Although not everyone can or should fast while detoxing, it is best to reduce the stress and work on the digestive and eliminatory system while cleansing by calorie restiction. Who should use caution when fasting: diabetics and menustrating women

Processed foods and fried foods should also be avoided when detoxing and really, just avoided for health.

Meats, unless organic, contain chemicals, antibiotics and possibly steroids. Also, the way cattle and chickens are processed leads to the fight or flight adrenal release just before death, which pumps adrenalin into the tissues. This is not healthy meat to eat.

Certain types of fish can be toxic, such as tuna which can contain too much mercury to eat on a regular basis (cilantro helps chelate out mercury, by the way. you can eat it fresh or use a cilantro tincture), while other fish (such as wild salmon) are considered perfect for a detox diet or, rather, what you eat while detoxing if not fasting or juice fasting. I have some concerns about strictly juice fasting, due to the very high sugar content, and think it is good to add veggie juices to the mix. Cabbage is particularly cleansing and carrot juice quite good during a cleanse.

Drinking more water is vital during a detox or cleanse. Most people don’t drink enough water on a daily basis anyway but when the body is dumping toxins, the kidneys, colon and skin (our biggest eliminatory organ) all need even more water to help keep the waste moving and avoid a healing crisis or unnecessary discomfort while cleansing. I recommend alkaline water because of it’s beneficial effect on ph levels. When detoxing, it is generally suggested that caffeine, alcohol, white flour products, refined sugar products, meats and processed foods be foregone.

Internal cleanses abound!
Some are specific to one organ, like a colon cleanse, liver cleanse or kidney cleanse, while others are more comprehensive and address all the major systems including blood purification, parasites, heavy metals and the lymph system. As a general rule, the more comprehensive the cleanse, the more chance for a healing crisis and the more important is is to schedule time off from work for the first day or two, to give your body ample time to rest while the detoxification begins.

One of the more popular cleanses out there is the master cleanse, also called the lemonade detox diet. guide to the lemonade diet

Some are based on sound herbal, ayurvedic, homeopathic or nutritional guidelines and others are just plain bunk. It pays to compare cleanses before deciding on which one if best for you.

Constipation Types and Causes

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I received this newsletter article from Allen over at Emperor’s Herbologist and since it tied into my own recent
challenges with constipation, thought I’d post it here. This article, as far as I know, is the copywritten material of Emperor’s Herbologist. Please contact Allen if you want to
reprint or reproduce.

I’d also like to add a few more constipation remedies to go along with all that I mentioned earlier in Constipation from Traveling post:

Digestive Enzymes, honey, yogurts such as Activia, coconut oil, olive oil, abdominal accupressure and glycerin suppositories. One caution on glycerin suppositories: If you resort to this, and for me it was definitely a last resort, and it does not result in a bowel movement within an hour, you need to see your doctor because there may be a more serious condition such as diverticulitis to consider.

TYPES AND CAUSES OF CONSTIPATION:

Do you constantly feel Overjoyed? Over Anger? Over Worried?
Think Too Much? Sad? Terrified? Surprised?

Did you know that too much of any one of these emotions can
hurt various of your internal organs.

It is not healthy for you to feel too tense at any time. Which
reminds me of a joke.

A man goes in to a doctor mumbling “I’m a Wigwam, I’m a
Tee pee, I’m a Wigwam, I’m a Tee pee” The Doctor says to the
man, “Well, there’s your problem… you’re too tents.”

I know… boo. But a little humor even if it’s really bad can
change your day.

Now, if you run around to tense or over emotionalized, you will
may end up causing yourself some problems. The good news is
most of these problems will not need medicine… if you can
make the elimination part of your digestive system work
properly.

There are many types of constipation. Believe it or not,
constipation is not limited to only one type…

Types of Constipation (not a complete list):

=> Weak (asthenic) constipation;
=> Solid constipation;
=> Cold constipation;
=> Hot constipation.

This all may be news to you… it was to me. All these
different types of constipation. But in this article I will
define the differences for you. And of course what you can do
to alleviate it.

About the different types of constipation:

Weak (Asthenic) Constipation - This is the type that normally
happens to pregnant women, seniors, children, or patients who
have been sick for a long time. Especially people afflicted
with apoplexia.

The stool of people with weak constipation is not necessarily
hard. Sometimes it is soft, even thin (watery like diarrhea)
but it is very hard for the stool to come out.

The cause of this is the intestine (bowel) lacks the power to
evacuate.

At this time, some may say “Use glycerin and give a glycerin
enema” This is not so good. The more you use “Artificial”
means, the worse the problem may get. This is because it causes
the bowels to lose even more of their inherent squeezing power.

Ancient Chinese herbalists, and modern day TCM (Traditional
Chinese Medicine) practitioners think by using complementary
remedies — e.g. using a tonifying herbal formulation or using
lubricating formulations can help people afflicted to move
their bowels easier.

That is why in Ancient China when this type of constipation
happened, they used food to cure it.

Foods they used were: Semen Cannabis Sativae (Huo Ma Ren)
together with an herb called Xuzi and made it into a porridge.
This special porridge helped them move their bowels very
smoothly.

Solid and Hot Constipation - Stool is very hard, solid, dry, a
long piece; or like little “pills”.

If the patient looks very solid and strong, and the sound of
their voice is very powerful, and their stool is like the one
described above. This is called solid constipation.

If the patient has a burning feeling in the anus (it feels hot)
when moving their bowels. This is called “Hot” constipation.

According to TCM herbs used to treat both of these types are:
Dahuang (Radix et rhizama rhei), or use Pu xiao (Natrium
sulfuricum). This will help to move the bowels much easier.

Cold Constipation - Stool looks like mud. It is sticky not dry,
and is really stinky some times with a sour smell. This is
caused because the internal organs are too cold. Solving this
type of constipation is very easy according to TCM.

Simply use Li Zhong Tang (Li Zhong Soup). It is a combination
of herbs each herbalist makes it a bit different.

Some constipation is caused by Bad Habits. These “Bad habits”
include: Not moving the bowels when the person feels they need
to… “holding it”. In this case, the moisture in the stool is
absorbed by the intestines. This is very easy to solve. Drink
more water when this happens. But the best way is to do as the
saying goes “When ya gotta go, ya gotta go.”

Another constipation situation is one TCM Doctors call
“Difficult to move the bowels.” This is not called
constipation, but this happens to some people. Their stool is
not hard, it’s not that they can’t move their bowels.. but it
takes a long time until it comes out.

This kind of situation is similar to asthenic constipation.
When this kind of situation happens take Radix angelicae
sinensis (Dang Gui).

PREVENTING cONSTIPATION:

Here is how to prevent all the above types constipation from happening.

First - Do some light exercise everyday. It does not need to be
heavy exercise with heavy sweat. Just light movement.

Second - Keep your temper balanced.

Third - Drink more water.

Fourth - Don’t eat too much of foods classified by TCM as
extremely “hot” foods. By “hot” foods we are talking about
foods are the ones that after eating them make your body feel
warm. Foods such as ginger, fennel, clove, and hot spices
(peppers, etc.). Deep fried is also considered as a hot food.
Not because of the temperature, but because of the food
properties.

Fifth - make sure you are getting enough fiber (vegetables,
whole fruits, whole grains, etc.)

Sixth - use the toilet when you feel the need.

Seventh - Keep your feelings balanced (over joyed, over sad,
etc).

So when you pay attention to these things, your digestive and
evacuation systems will stay healthy and work normally.

When your digestive and evacuative systems are working well,
you are better able to get the toxins out of your system.

When you get toxins out of your system, your skin will begin to
look better. You will feel better. You will have more energy.
You will feel happier and more energetic, and more able to get
things done faster and easier. You will not be “moody” and or
sluggish. And you will get a lot of other benefits.

How to fulfill your mission in life

Except for any noted source material, content copyright, Neva. J. Howell, all rights reserved

A large portion of focus, when women come here for private retreat time, is a focus on language, the frequency of words, and how our habitual ways of speaking can keep us in ways of living that do not serve our highest good.

We create language frequencies at times in our lives when we feel vulnerable or uncertain. “No” and “not” have very powerful frequencies and, at certain times, can be easier for us to get behind than “yes”.

However, as we grow into spiritual awareness, heal the past, and become more strong as spiritual beings, we understand that “Yes” is the more powerful frequency of the three. Yet, many do not know how to shift from declaring what they don’t want to focusing on what they choose.

Here is how the process works for me:

Getting the “not’s out

Whe I focus on “no” or “not” I give power to the situations, experiences, feelings and events I would not consciously choose for my life. related article: the power of yes

When I focus on “yes, I automatically rule out the negatives of anything that is other than yes….anything that would not serve the yes I have prayed. It is a prayer for me, yes.

Sai Maa calls yes “a very powerful mantra”.

Instead of “I am NOT going to be sick” I focus on “I choose health”. Within that statement,

When speaking in the positive or even just staying in a consistent, positive connection to source, all of the “not’s and “no’s” are diffused of focus and energy. Without energy to support them, they cease to be able to manifest into my reality.

If I am connected to Godsource Energy, then I can relax and assume that all which comes my way is good and for my good. All, regardless of how it looks. Instead of thinking “that’s bad”, I now think “am I connected to source?” If I feel connected,
I assume it is good. If I feel unconnected, I take time to reconnect. In fact, when I am able to avoid trying to directly fix something considered “bad” or “negative” and, instead, turn my attention to making sure my connection with God is strong,
I am far more effective in whatever situation faces me and problems take care of themselves far easier than when I focus on this thing that has appeared in my life instead of checking and focusing on my connection to source.

When I am able to grasp that my only job is to stay connected, a blessed absence of fear and doubt results; a blessed absence of any need to control, understand, manipulate or change things results.

When I remember that my work is to stay connected to source, I even can let go of the tiring task of holding specific visions for my life. Vision is built-in. Mission is built-in.

It’s not something I have to find, create, make happen or choose. I chose before I came. Remembering who I am and staying connected to I AM is the fastest, most efficient and in fact, only way, to totally fulfill my highest mission in life.

Vitamins and Mineral Deficiencies in Seniors

Nutritional Supplementation to correct nutrient deficiencies in seniors

By Greg Arnold, DC, CSCS, February 24, 2008, abstracted from “Older Adults Who Use Vitamin/Mineral Supplements Differ from Nonusers in Nutrient Intake Adequacy and Dietary Attitudes” in the August 2007 issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association

Except for any noted source material, content copyright, Greg Arnold

Numerous studies over the past 15 years have shown that older Americans continue to fall short of the recommended amounts of many nutrients from food alone(1, 2). Because vitamin deficiencies contribute significantly to the chronic diseases so prevalent in the elderly population(3), a growing proportion of older adults are using vitamin and mineral supplements to “substantially increase” nutrient intake(4).

But while supplement compliance in the elderly can be an issue with hip fractures(5), a new study(6) finds that supplements can help prevent vitamin deficiencies in the elderly and can improve the overall quality of food intake.

In the study, researchers analyzed data on more than 2,500 American aged 51 years or older from the US Department of Agriculture’s 1994-96 CSFII and Diet and Health Knowledge Survey, a nationally representative survey of non-institutionalized individuals in all 50 states(7). Dietary intake data were obtained during in-person interviews and 24-hour recall. Supplement intake information on both vitamin/mineral supplements ( multivitamin ) and specific types of single vitamins/minerals (vitamin A , vitamin C , calcium , and iron ) was also obtained during the in-person interviews.

The researchers found that 34% of men and 41% of women took supplements, with 74% of men and 71% of women taking a multivitamin supplement. Vitamin C (19%) and vitamin E (34%) were the most commonly mentioned single vitamin or mineral supplements while calcium supplements were popular among older women; 26% of users aged 51 to 70 years and 18% of users aged 71 years and older took them.

While non-supplement users were very “borderline” in meeting the Estimated Average Requirements (EARs) for minerals, nutrient intake from food in the supplement group was higher for nearly every mineral tested (Vitamin A, C, E, folic acid , magnesium , zinc , iron). This indicated that supplement users most often followed healthier diets due to a healthier mindset regarding their diet. When adding in their supplement use, total mineral intake rose to several times that of non-supplement users and satisfied the EARs with every mineral tested except for magnesium. Only 3% of the men exceeded the upper limits for vitamin B-6, C and calcium, while 10% of men exceeded the upper limits of zinc and iron.

While “supplement users were more likely to have adequate nutrient intakes from food alone than non-users for many of the nutrients studied”, the researchers concluded that “generally, supplement users consume more nutritious diets than non-users” and that “supplements had a positive influence on nutrient adequacy for men and women aged 51 years and older.”

Homeopathy as a Healing Tool, Guest Article on Homeopathic Medicine from Ayatnajanada

Homeopathy: A system of healing which brings to light a concept where like treats and heals like. With this in mind let us regain this understand, the understanding of what Samuel Hahnemann said and described when he said that nature had a component and the like of its core treated the disease which it was resembling.

We understand that within nature there are components which have properties which give life. We also understand that within this there are dangerous components, and we understand that within this range there are a mixture of chemicals which give rise to both, good and bad, or health and disease.

When taking a homeopathy remedy think what transpires. Here is the basics. Scientifically speaking there are three major things which take place.

A remedy which is created within the confines of what we know about nature is something which has become succussed (tap repeatedly after each dilution) which binds the cosmic signature of this chemical to the polar aspect of the water. It is this signature which has been attached and becomes almost solidified to the molecules of water.

When the thing which is tapped repeatedly is given birth in the new form, (human with the disease or health problem) the likeness which gave rise to the disease and which is of the same signature as the homeopathy remedy, a reverseness of the signature occurs. Look for example at a cosine wave. The cosine wave is what would be typical of the signature of the plant or object in nature (used for the homeopathy remedy), and then think that this wave which is also the particles themselves, since this energy signature obeys the laws and practice of physics and laws of particle wave duality. It is this wave which can be described as a sin or cos depending on where the nature of the signature is made whole. And when the signature of the remedy is given to the same signature of the disease (although one is good or health-think of the cos wave- and one is bad or disease-think of the sin wave) realize that when taken correctly a disease is counterbalanced with what is the wave practice known as destructive interference.

Because man and women are energetic, all matter is energetic and thus even disease and healing tools like homeopathy are energetic. Therefore the likely explanation of homeopathy is such that like (cos wave which is of X amplitude, and Y frequency) treats the same disease or illness (which is sin wave of the same X amplitude, and Y frequency wave form). The difference of the wave is such that energetically they are the same, it is the lag or difference in the nature of where they start, one cos, one sin, that differs.

It is this difference which is not a signature difference, and therefore obeys the laws of similarity which Samuel Hahnemann described so many years ago. It is this difference which is the duality of nature. There are “good or healing things” which have a signature-call it cos-and there are “bad or illness creating things” which have a similar but out of phase-call is sin wave- signature, which when taken together create a destructive interference as explained through basic high school physics. With this understanding we can say that homeopathy makes sense scientifically according to the laws and practice of waves, and destructive interference through basic physics laws. It should be recognized that this is not sound in the sense that it is complete, yet this is the first building block as to why Homeopathy is scientifically a healing tool.

Working with Herbs in a Spiritual Way: How to Make an Herbal Healing Bundle

Except for any noted source material, content copyright, Neva. J. Howell, all rights reserved

Please note: This spiritual herbology
information stems from my own, very personal path of training
with the Plant Nation as an herbalist, healer, and prayerful
co-creator.

It is NOT presented as any type of Native-American
ritual or teaching. Although I am certain that this information
emerged from Plant Deva connections that any Shaman would
understand, I do not present myself as a keeper of the ways of
any tribe. That is the work of the Medicine Men and Women
within that tribe.

I walk a blended-tradition spiritual path. The Good
Red Road of Sweat Lodges, Sundance and other ceremony is
a glorious part of my path and I also embrace the truth of many
other paths. We are coming together, not dividing ourselves
anymore through religion. It is good that we do this now.

For years, I have depended exclusively on natural means for my
health and well-being, not calling on allopathic medicines at all
save the occasional aspirin or muscle relaxer.

Different nutrition supplements have been important for my health
at different times in my life, such as vitamins, minerals, and
enzymes.

It has consistently been the plant kingdom that has most
consistently provided me with whatever I have needed to
cleanse, relax, strengthen, or heal. I rely on them heavily.

Spirit has shown me that the Plant Kingdom carries very
strong, if subtle, energy medicine for us that can permeate
all the levels of our existence — physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual.

It was after I had studied herbology for several years that I
began to understand a new way of approaching the medicines
within the plants, flowers, shrubs and trees of the planet.

It was a sort of “spiritual herbology” that began to manifest
for me. It involved approaching the plants as living
manifestations of healing lifeforce energy, with respect and
with intent. I experienced a powerful shift from simply taking
an herb to praying with it, focusing my intent on what I wished
it to do, and working with it in a “medicine” or “energy” way.
What a difference!

I learned so much by this attitude. I learned that a minute amount
of the same herb I had once taken for weeks would still work, if I
took it in ceremony with prayers and intent. I learned that just praying
with the herbs would release their medicines to me, though it was
preferrable to also have the herbs within my physical body as well.

I began to pour a special kind of purification Sweat Lodge, as I was
shown how to do by God and by the plant devas. This is a
non-traditional Lodge and presented as such. I am not a keeper
of tradition for any particular tribe, as this is the work of the Elders
and Shamans within each tribe. Rather, I simply share what I have
been taught by the Plant Nation.

I once made my own herbal tinctures, salves and linaments. My
schedule no longer permits this but I still work with essential oils,
which I consider the life blood of the plant and with various
homeopathic herbals and tinctures.

I have become familiar with Flower Essences too. At first, my logical
mind had some trouble understanding how they could be powerful,
as they are so very diluted. Yet, when I tried them, they worked.
Then, I began to realize that the essence was like the Spirit of the
plant, or the etheric template. As such, it worked powerfully with
my own etheric template. Essences were more auric medicines that
filtered down into the physical field, rather than the other way
around like whole plant medicines. I have used Bach, Perelandra
and other essences, and enjoy them very much. I have additionally
worked, both alone and in partnership with a dear friend, to create
flower essences, as well as other types of homeopathics.

In every new experience with the herbal and plant kingdom, I was further
renewed in knowledge, vibrational stability and healing. I believe anyone can
receive the blessings of the Plant Nation by working with them in
this very simple but powerful way.

How to Make Herbal Heaing Bundles:

The process for making an Herbal Healing Bundle is very easy,
but requires focused intent to be successful. If making the bundle
for someone other than myself, I start by doing a little research.

If the person is struggling with specific physical problems, then I
search out those herbs that address the problem. However, after
finding those herbs, I don’t necessarily assume that all those plants
want to work with this particular person. I use inner guidance and
ask which ones to include of those that are appropriate.

One way to do this is through muscle-testing, on behalf of the person
for whom you are making the bundle or, if you have affinity with the
Plant Devas, ask directly which is what I do most of the time. I find
there is a willingness to be included when I hold each plant, or there
is not a willingness.

Asking involves holding the plant or thinking of it, and sending out
a request for some type of sign that the plant is to be included, or
left out of the bundle. Some feel energy in their body, like a
tingling, warmth or cold, if the answer is yes. Others may hear
a tone or just get an intuitive sensing. Visionaries may actually see
the Plant Deva and receive the answer directly.

If you, or the person for whom you are making the bundle, is
dealing with more than one challenge, then it might be appropriate
to choose herbs for each challenge that is mentioned.

The herbs must be either purchased or wildcrafted or donated by
the person who requests the bundle. I wouldn’t concern myself
too much if you can’t find wildcrafted. Yes, they are naturally
more potent but I find when prayer and intent are offered up
from a sincere heart, the original potency of the herb can be
restored by the Plant Deva that lives in it. During that process,
you will decide which ones to use, either by muscle testing or
communication with the Plant Spirits themselves, as described
in the above paragraph.

Only a minute amount of each herb is needed for the bundle
since it is only the vibration of the Plant that is required. Just
a pinch of each will make it’s way to the bundle. However, I
find it is often good to gift the remainder of the herbs to the
person for whom I have made the bundle, so they may drink
the tea of the same Plants that are in their healing bundle, as
a way of introducing the vibration more strongly into the field.

If I’m making the bundle for myself, the same still applies. I
find it helps to drink tea made from the remainder of the herbs.
Obviously, in saying this, I am not suggesting anyone drink tea
of herbs chosen that might have toxic properties, like mistletoe
or mandrake. Use common sense in all cases. The toxic herbs
can be placed under the bed or strewn around the living quarters
with prayer and intent, to honor them and put their energy to use
in the strongest way.

You will also need a small piece of cotton cloth (in whatever color
feels right to you — each color has a vibration and you will instinctively
pick the vibration you need for the particular bundle being made) —
and some cotton twine to tie the bundle.

If preferred, the bundle may be placed in a leather pouch when
completed.

Now, after the herbs have been chosen and prayed with (the
number seven has special significance and it is good to pray
with the plants for seven days, prior to making the bundle.
Your prayers should be for healing at all levels, if it is your
desire to truly heal at the level that would make it permanent.
I find that the Plants respond well to specific requests, since
most of them can work in more than one way so if it is blood
purification that is needed, for example, then I entreat the
Plant Spirit that could effect that cause to work in that
specific way.

After praying for seven days, you are ready to make the
bundles. Have something ready for smudging beforehand
(White Sage is my favorite but Cedar or Sweetgrass are
also good). Also, you will need your cloth square (this
should also have been prayed with, along with the herbs),
some cotton twine and scissors.

When you have smudged everything, and are ready to begin,
take a small pinch of each herb individually. Pray with each
one before placing it into the center of the bundle. When all
the herbs are in the bundle, grasp the four corners of the
cloth and pull together so that you can twist the top, and
secure the herbs in the middle. Then, tie the cloth with the
twine, so that you have formed a pocket in the center,
where the herbs are contained.

This is your bundle.

How to use Herbal Healing Bundles:
It may be burned in a healing ceremony, carried with
the person, prayed with, or left on the altar. Each person should
use intuitive knowing as to how the bundle will best facilitate
healing for them.

Another excellent way to use the bundles is as one would a
feather, crystal or in the way of smudging.

The herbal healing bundle can be placed over the area
of the body that needs healing, and vibrational frequency
of the plants will engage to draw out the toxins. However, plant
medicine is comprehensive and, along with whatever physical
toxins that are removed, will flush up emotional, mental and
spiritual factors that must be dealt with actively by the person,
for permanent healing to occur. It is best to give clear attention
to emotions and ways of thinking that surface while using the
bundles. These will give wonderful clues as to what needs to
be addressed for the healing to be total and permanent.

You can make bundles for all kinds
of different applications and I urge you to spend a lot of
time in quiet meditation and also out in nature with the
Plant Devas, asking to be shown how this particular
medicine will best work in your life and in your path
of service to others.

I am sometimes called to use herbal bundles
during healing sessions and if you are a body
worker you may benefit from creating a personal
healing bundle to be used only with your work.

In this particular bundle, you will want to select
herbs that are conducive to healing and helpful
for clearing your auric field before and after.

I used to have a personal healing bundle that I used
in my healing facilitation work. I no longer use tools
much at all as I feel I’ve integrated the Herbal Medicines
within by now. However, for a long time, it was a great,
great help to me and to the partners-in-healing who
came to me for help.

I included a great many herbs in my personal
bundle for healing work, over 150 in fact. I would call
on whatever medicines might be needed from within
the bundle to come forth at the time of the session.

I was sometimes guided to place the bundle at certain
areas of the body and leave it for a while, to soak up
toxic residue and clear the etheric template in that
area.

You may find that your bundle guides you
differently. It is a powerful tool for those who
resonate with the Plant Deva energies and do body
work or healing work and can help you align with the
frequencies of the Plant Nation within yourself as well.

Basic informaton on mangosteen, goji, noni, pomegranate and acai, along with possible medication interactions you should be aware of if you drink these juices - Article Series added to Wellness Library

I personally use and favor antioxidant juice blends over single juice products but I suggest the opposite for anyone using prescription drugs. If you are on prescription drugs OF ANY KIND, and you want to try antioxidant juices, AFTER BEING CERTAIN TO CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AND GETTING YOUR DOCTOR’S OK TO USE AN ANTIOXIDANT JUICE, start with a single juice rather than a blend so that it’s easier to monitor effect and any possible side effects or reactions.

I use a blend that contains mangosteen juice along with other juices including the ones mentioned above along with cranberry, red grape, tomato, bludberry, elderberry and others. The kind I use is called Red Lightning and it’s put out by a company called Nature’s Plus.

Recently, I had a disturbing realization that, healthy as these juices are for the average person, they can possibly pose a risk to those who take certain prescription drugs.

I spent a few days researching this concern after my mom had a negative reaction, due to some medication she was taking while also taking an antioxidant juice blend that contained goji berry, or as it is also known, wolfberry.

I wanted to post information on all that I could find on the subject of prescription drug interactions with antioxidant juices, and you will find the results of that research on the website. However, any such list is not to be consider all-inclusive. There may be other prescription drug interactions that I did not find documentation for online. Also, you should not consider any list as replacement for advice you need to be getting from your doctor if you are under a doctor’s care for health problems.

That being said, here’s the beginning of the series of articles on prescription drug interactions with antioxidant juices

Adrenal Fatique Syndrome

Is there such a thing as adrenal fatigue and, if so, what can be done about this health challenge? What’s the difference between adrenal fatique and adrenal insufficiency?
Except for any noted source material, content copyright, Neva. J. Howell, all rights reserved

I just added a three-part article on my main site about adrenal fatigue after someone posted a comment on my blog post What Causes Heart Palpitations, indicating that this condition could also cause heart palpitations, in addition to the causes I had listed in the blog post.

Because I’ve been dealing with heart palpitations and also because I wanted to refresh my memory on adrenal glands health, I did a little research which turned into a whole lot of research and still, just barely scratched the surface on this health question.

If you feel tired all the time and your doctor can’t find a reason, consider reading about
adrenal insufficiency, the medical condition that medical doctors recognize and can test for, as well as adrenal fatique, a condition not yet recognized by the medical community but which alternative medicine recognizes.
